Qualifications
Ted Neame is both qualified and experienced as a specialist yacht and small craft surveyor. Ted qualified in marine surveying with the IIMS (International Institute of Marine Surveying), supplementing his degree in engineering. He is a chartered marine and civil engineer and is a Corporate Member of IMarEST (Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology) and of ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers). He also belongs to the IIMS and is an Accredited Member of the YDSA (Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association).
As an owner of motor cruisers for the past 25 years, and with substantial sailing experience, he appreciates the concerns any boat owner or buyer has. With a technical background, a knowledge of what an owner needs and a professional approach, Ted is well placed to provide guidance on all aspects of yacht & boat design and manufacture, their use, legislation and safety requirements. He is able to provide advice on repairs and remedying defects.
As an active member of IMarEST, YDSA and IIMS, Ted undertakes continuous professional development through study and attendance at Institute meetings.
Ted is also a qualified RYA Instructor for diesel and radar courses.
Maintaining High Standards
Membership of the YDSA and IIMS brings a requirement to meet the high professional standards in their Code of Conduct. All our surveys comply with the IIMS Guidelines for Surveyors Conducting Pre-Purchase Vessel Condition Surveys where they apply to pleasure vessels.
